While confirming that the Montreal Canadiens had made a trade offer to the Nashville Predators for Yaroslav Askarov, LeBrun gave his thoughts on the offer.
According to him, and I find it hard to believe he said this randomly, a Canadiens defenseman may have possibly been offered to the Preds.
He also added that he heard from another source that the Predators tried to involve Jacob Fowler in the deal.
Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens then mentioned that Fowler was absolutely not available for trade.
This is very interesting information.
We can think of names like Justin Barron and Jayden Struble, while obviously considering that other elements (such as a 1st-round pick) were likely involved.
Clearly, Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton are active in the trade market, and they're not afraid to go after big moves.
The Canadiens didn't want to trade Fowler for Askarov according to Pierre LeBrun.
A truly interesting report.
At 19 years old, Fowler is a 6-foot-2, 212-pound goaltender. He was a third-round pick by the Canadiens in 2023 (69th overall) and posted the following stats last season at Boston College:
- 32 wins, 6 losses, and one overtime loss, with a goals-against average of 2.14 and a save percentage of .926.
