With the trade deadline just days away, Canadiens fans are eager to see what Kent Hughes will do in the market this year.

Some Canadiens players will certainly interest several teams, but Hughes will need to be able to get what he wants in return.
However, as reported by the site Rumeursdetransaction.com, there is a player from this year's Canadiens edition who could be worth his weight in gold on the trade market.
Moreover, the site Montreal Hockey Now made two trade suggestions involving defenseman Michael Matheson, and one of these suggestions deserves to be examined.
Here are the two propositions:
To New Jersey: Mike Matheson
To Montreal: Alexander Holtz

To Winnipeg: Mike Matheson
To Montreal: Rutger McGroarty

McGroarty is 6'1", 201 pounds, and was the captain of the American team that won gold at the last World Junior Championship. So far, he has collected 40 points in 27 NCAA games for the University of Michigan.

Let's say these proposals could be enticing, especially the one involving the Winnipeg Jets because McGroaty represents a real top prospect.
However, to be honest with you, it would be quite surprising if Kevin Cheveldayoff, the general manager of the Jets, gave in to the temptation to trade one of his top prospects.
It will take more than Michael Matheson for a possible trade discussion to start.
