Major trade offer between the Canadiens and Nashville: Kent Hughes clearly missed a great opportunity with Askarov

This is not a rumor, it's confirmed and verified information (notably by Pierre LeBrun), but a major trade offer was made by the Nashville Preds to the Montreal Canadiens during the 2023 National Hockey League draft.
In essence, by accepting the trade, Kent Hughes would have moved back his first-round pick and acquired goaltender Yaroslav Askarov.
He would have lost
David Reinbacher, but would still have been able to draft a very good player (like Gabe Perreault?).
It would be interesting to ask Kent Hughes today if he regrets refusing this trade with Nashville.

Let's give young David Reinbacher a chance, but for now, it's hard to think that Hughes made the right decision on this one.
Askarov, 21 years old, an 11th overall pick in 2020, has a record of 21-6-1 this season, with a 2.04 average and a .923 save percentage.
