The renowned Elliotte Friedman from Sportsnet has just announced a new development in the Yaroslav Askarov trade saga.
This isn't the first time, but this time, the Nashville Predators are genuinely trying to find a new team for their young goaltender.
Askarov is clearly too good for the American Hockey League, and he's too good to be a backup goaltender, but the problem is that the Preds already have Juuse Saros, who is one of the few best goalies in the world.
Yaroslav Askarov Trade: Friedman Announces Last-Minute Development, and the Montreal Canadiens Seem to Have Missed Their Chance
In his most recent podcast, the Sportsnet insider mentioned the following:
"32 Thoughts: Elliotte talks about Nashville and Askarov, he says they've told other teams, 'Let us know what you think, what's the market for him because I think they're going to do something.' He says he doesn't think Askarov wants to play in the AHL next year."
In the case of young goaltender Yaroslav Askarov, it's sincerely not just a whim that he doesn't want to play in the AHL.
He has played two full seasons in the American Hockey League and has clearly demonstrated that he is too strong for this league despite being only 22 years old.
