In his most recent article, 32 Thoughts Friedman confirmed that Kent Hughes has indeed discussed a possible trade with Nashville to acquire goaltender Yaroslav Askarov.
Montreal Canadiens' trade offer for Yaroslav Askarov was to involve three pieces, including Owen Beck:

In the end, the price was too high for his liking, and that's perfectly fine.
