The trade deadline is approaching, and I think Kent Hughes will have to make some big decisions. The Canadiens are far from the playoffs, so trading certain players might be the best option.

We're mostly talking here about players whose contracts expire at the end of the current season.

Jake Evans: A Departure on the Horizon?

Jake Evans is having a good season, but his offensive production is slowing down.
He will soon become a free agent, and if a team is willing to offer a good draft pick in return, I believe Hughes should seriously consider it.

Joel Armia: A Sought-After Player

Joel Armia could be very useful in the playoffs with his defensive play and physicality.
He is not a top-six forward, but a team might want his experience.
I think that if a good offer comes in, he should be traded.

David Savard: Keep or Trade?

David Savard has experience and important leadership, but I think his best hockey is behind him.
If he wants to stay in Montreal, I don't believe the Canadiens will force him out.
We know the Dallas Stars are interested in him.

Christian Dvorak: Too Expensive to Trade?

If Christian Dvorak had a lower salary, I think he would have already been traded.
He is solid defensively and in the faceoff circle, but his $4.45M salary complicates things.

Mike Matheson: An Unlikely Trade?

Some believe Mike Matheson could be traded, but in my opinion, he is too important to the team.
Unless there is a massive return, I don't see Hughes letting him go.

Josh Anderson: Still in Trade Rumors?

Josh Anderson has been in trade rumors for a long time, but his $5.5M contract until 2027 will deter many teams.
I think he will stay.

What If Kent Hughes Does Nothing?

With 12 draft picks, maybe Hughes will just wait and keep his team intact.
Would that be the right decision? Not so sure.
