After discussing Martin Necas and Trevor Zegras, journalist Arpon Basu has just made waves with the young forward Kent Johnson.

In his most recent column on BPM Sports, the excellent journalist Arpon Basu himself brought up the name Kent Johnson for a potential trade involving the Montreal Canadiens.
We know that Kent Hughes wants to add a young top-6 forward, and we know that Johnson's name has been circulating in the trade market in recent weeks, and now Basu has linked the two.

A trade between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Montreal Canadiens involving Kent Johnson? A possibility to watch, according to Arpon Basu

After obviously discussing the Zegras and Necas situations, Arpon Basu mentioned this:
«The guy I see, who intrigues me, I don't know if the Canadiens are intrigued as well, but the case of Kent Johnson in Columbus intrigues me.

He's in a somewhat similar situation to the two other players (acquired by the Habs in the past, namely Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook), and we don't know what the new management will do with him.»

And he seems to think that the price to acquire Johnson would be more affordable than acquiring Trevor Zegras or Martin Necas. Interesting.
«It's a call I would make to see where the Blue Jackets stand with this player.»

- Arpon Basu

Kent Johnson, 21 years old, 5th overall pick in 2021, has accumulated 59 points in 130 NHL games in his career, but it simply doesn't seem to be working for him with Pascal Vincent and the Columbus Blue Jackets. (16 points in 42 games this season)
He added a very solid 15 points in 10 games in the American Hockey League.
Yes, he is also extremely talented:
The new GM of the Blue Jackets, Don Waddell, is not the one who drafted Johnson, so he certainly has a lesser sense of attachment to him.
