A deal concluded between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers has become a real steal by Kent Hughes.
It passed more quietly, but on March 21, 2022, Kent Hughes traded Brett Kulak to the Oilers for:
- A 7th-round pick in 2024
Must read on HabsFanatics
- And most importantly, a 2nd-round pick in 2022.
It's this 2022 second-round pick that we're interested in because it has become extremely interesting for the Canadiens.
Kent Hughes traded Brett Kulak for three elements, one of which directly became Lane Hutson!
You might have guessed, but as just highlighted on TVA Sports, it has become a home run and a steal by Kent Hughes.
"It has been a long time since the arrival of a young Canadiens prospect has excited the team's fans as much as Lane Hutson. And if the dynamic defenseman now wears the colors of the Tricolore, it's thanks to... Brett Kulak!" - TVA Sports
We also salute the Colorado Avalanche, because it is thanks to them that the condition related to the pick was fulfilled.
This second-round pick from the Oilers in 2022, the 62nd overall pick in 2022, allowed the Canadiens to get Lane Hutson.
Hutson, 20 years old, has accumulated 2 points in two NHL game, after having amassed 49 points, including 15 goals, in 38 games this season in the NCAA with Boston University.
As for Brett Kulak, the 30-year-old defenseman gathered 15 points in 80 games this season for the Oilers, with a plus-minus of +3 and an average of 15 minutes of playtime per game.
He has become a good 5-6th defenseman for them.
