Trade concluded between Montreal and the Philadelphia Flyers: a real steal by the Canadiens following good choices in the seventh round
In recent hours, Marco Normandin posted a very intriguing analysis, clearly illustrating how the Montreal Canadiens capitalized on the Philadelphia Flyers' lack of diligence, acquiring three players, two of whom have made significant impacts.
In essence, the Canadiens took advantage three times of the apparent fact that the Flyers have absolutely no interest in their 7th round picks.
It's rare for a 7th round pick to become a significant player, but Montreal has certainly shown that it's possible.
Here's what the Flyers allowed the Habs to do:

In 2017, Montreal traded their 2018 7th round pick for Philadelphia's 2017 7th round pick. This allowed them to draft Cayden Primeau.
In 2018, Montreal reclaimed their 2018 7th round pick from the Flyers in exchange for a 7th round pick in 2019. They drafted Brett Stapley with this.
In 2019, Montreal once again reclaimed their 2019 7th round pick from the Flyers, in exchange for a 7th round pick in 2020. With this pick, brace yourselves, they drafted none other than Rafaël Harvey-Pinard.
The result of this three-step trade?
Over three years, the Montreal Canadiens acquired Cayden Primeau, Brett Stapley, and Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, while the Philadelphia Flyers didn't draft anyone in the seventh round.
Clearly, the Flyers should pay more attention to their seventh-round selections, and kudos to the Canadiens for capitalizing on it.
Cayden Primeau and Rafaël Harvey-Pinard have become impactful players, especially the RHP, who's turned out to be a real steal!
Harvey-Pinard, at 24 years old, scored 14 goals and garnered 20 points in 34 games last season with the Habs.
