On the past February 26th, as you know, a trade was concluded between the Montreal Canadiens and the Dallas Stars, involving forward Evgenii Dadonov.
If it seemed like a brilliant move by Kent Hughes at the time, we must admit that the future rather gave the advantage to the Stars' general manager.
It remains a no-damage trade for the Canadiens because Dadonov would not have thrived with the Habs, and he probably already played his last game in Montreal by the time we speak (even without this trade), but it must be admitted that he has been really superior to Denis Gurianov since then.
Gurianov being, of course, the player who made the reverse trip in this trade.
"Denis Gurianov in exchange for forward Evgenii Dadonov, one-for-one trade."
The numbers don't lie. See the numbers since the announcement of the trade:
Dadonov: 15 points in 23 regular season games and 10 points in 13 playoff games.
Gurianov: 8 points in 23 regular season games.
Alain Nasreddine, assistant coach of the Stars, had a lot to say about Dadonov on the 5 to 7 show on RDS:
"Dadonov has been fantastic since he joined us. He gives his all in every game."
Major turnaround for Dadonov?
If he was seen as a simple rental player for the Stars to finish the current campaign, the plans seem to have clearly changed.
After all, against all odds, Dadonov could finally earn a nice contract extension in Dallas, and he deserves it.
Hats off to the Stars for trusting him!
On the side of Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, do you believe Denis Gurianov will be re-signed this summer? Do you believe he has already played his last game with the Tricolore?"
