As the different NHL teams are currently planning their strategies for the upcoming draft and trade season, New York journalist Arthur Staple has just released a compelling one.
The New York Rangers are reportedly looking to offload Barclay Goodrow's contract, much like the Calgary Flames did with Sean Monahan last season.
To accomplish this, Staple suggests that it would probably cost a 2nd round pick. For obvious reasons, the Montreal Canadiens have been put forward as the partner for this transaction.
We must admit, we do not hate the idea, especially considering that the Lightning paid a 1st round pick in 2020 to acquire him.
So, here's what the trade would look like:
To Montreal:
Barclay Goodrow
2nd round pick 2023
To New York:
Future considerations
As for his contract, Goodrow is signed until 2027, with a $3.6 million per season salary. He is a power forward, a playoff player, and he has scored 31 points (11 goals) this season with the Rangers.
Would you make the trade?
