Surprise: the Vancouver Canucks have just submitted an interesting trade offer to the Montreal Canadiens and other clubs
As the trade season is finally back in the National Hockey League, some teams are clearly announcing their intentions.
We have just learned some significant news, and it comes from the renowned insider Frank Seravalli.
According to his sources, the Vancouver Canucks would have submitted a special trade offer to the Montreal Canadiens and certain other organizations that have room under the salary cap.
A trade involving Garland
Here's what it would look like:
Seravalli adds that teams can indeed now acquire Garland for free. He is a "free asset", because the Canucks are really seriously in trouble with the NHL salary cap.
However, according to the insider, the Canucks' GM has received at least one counter-offer because teams (like the Habs) are asking for one or more draft picks, in addition to Garland.
Just like the trade involving
Sean Monahan with the Calgary Flames. It would look like this:
TO MONTREAL:
Conor Garland
Draft pick (1st or 2nd round)
TO VANCOUVER:
Future considerations
So, this is a situation to keep an eye on!
Garland, 27, is a 5 foot 10 inch forward who has amassed 46 and 52 points in his last two seasons. (39 points in 49 games in 2021)
He earns $4.95 million per season until 2026.
