Report: Leafs Insider Confirms Toronto is Eyeing Star Canadiens Forward
We saw it yesterday with two announced trades, the market is already active in the NHL.
And on this topic, in the last few minutes, Toronto journalist Luke Fox has linked three names to the Maple Leafs via trade, including a player from the Montreal Canadiens.
This will be a file to watch, but in Toronto, they are increasingly talking about the possibility of a trade between the Habs and the Leafs involving Monahan.
If I'm Kent Hughes, I'd ask them for, at a minimum, a 1st round pick! (and try to sign Monahan next summer)
Monahan, 29 years old, earns less than two million dollars this season.
He has accumulated 17 points, including 9 goals, in 29 games this season with the CH. It would be a major addition for the Maple Leafs.
A file to follow very closely, according to Fox in particular.
The only reason Monahan could be traded is precisely because he will be a free agent at the end of this season.
