Major trade alert between the Maple Leafs and the Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks have made a blockbuster trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
McCabe and Lafferty Head to Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs are making a strong push this year and have added defenseman Jake McCabe and forward Sam Lafferty to their team from the Chicago Blackhawks.
Under the terms of the deal, the Maple Leafs will acquire McCabe, with the Blackhawks retaining 50% of his contract for the remainder of his time with the team, as well as Lafferty and two conditional fifth-round picks.
In exchange, the Blackhawks will receive a conditional first-round pick from the Maple Leafs in 2025, a second-round pick in 2026, forward prospect Joey Anderson, and Pavel Gogolev.
McCabe, 29, has 20 points, including two goals, in 55 games this season. He has also maintained a +7 rating, which is excellent considering the Hawks' struggles.
Lafferty, 27, is also having the season of his career with 21 points in 51 games this year.
