In the past few hours, the renowned Frank Seravalli has released very interesting information concerning the NHL trade market.
According to his sources, the Columbus Blue Jackets have initiated discussions with various clubs to finalize a trade involving a defenseman.
They are the ones who want to trade a defenseman to have more flexibility at that position.
There's movement behind the scenes, and there are talks on the trade market.
It's quite easy to know which defensemen are available out there.
Zach Werenski, Damon Severson, Ivan Provorov, and Erik Gudbranson have just signed and have solid contracts, so we can forget about them.
This leaves Andrew Peeke, Jake Bean, and Adam Boqvist as available names.
Boqvist is certainly the most interesting, and the Blue Jackets probably want to trade him to make room for the highly talented and very promising David Jiricek. (in addition to Denton Mateychuk)
At 23 years old, Boqvist is a right-handed defenseman who still has the potential to become an excellent top-4 in the NHL. He unfortunately suffered several injuries that slowed his progress, but he has a remarkable offensive instinct.
He is still very young, this former 8th overall pick has scored 24 points in 46 games last season with a team that didn't score much.
As for the team we're interested in, the Montreal Canadiens, it seems to be a possibility, and it's clearly possible that Kent Hughes is on the case.
Marco D'Amico, who often has insider information on the Canadiens, mentioned this:
Keep an eye out! Would you like Kent Hughes to acquire Boqvist? What would you give in exchange?
