Last-minute development and two goalies targeted in potential trade between the Canadiens and the Oilers
It's really unusual what's happening.
Since the acquisition of
Jeff Petry and
Casey DeSmith by the Montreal Canadiens, both have been consistently involved in trade rumors.
That being said, there's new information regarding a potential trade involving DeSmith.
"Reports indicate that the Edmonton Oilers are interested in recently traded goaltender Casey DeSmith (to the Montreal Canadiens).
They are also exploring options to part ways with
Jack Campbell."
- House of Hockey
The Edmonton Oilers are therefore reportedly interested in the services of the Canadiens' goaltender Casey DeSmith.
They also want to trade their goaltender Jack Campbell. If they succeed, expect them to seriously try to add DeSmith.
A situation to keep an eye on! It would indeed make sense for the Habs to trade a goaltender before the start of the season, given the significant congestion currently present.
DeSmith, 31 years old, earns $1.8 million per season until 2024. He has a career save percentage of 0.912, an average of 2.81, and 58 wins.
Allen, 33 years old, earns $3.85 million per season until 2025. He has a career save percentage of 0.909, an average of 2.70, and 183 wins.
