Kent Hughes reportedly refused a major trade offer for Xhekaj and details are revealed
Last night on Sportsnet, renowned insider Elliotte Friedman revealed major news regarding the Montreal Canadiens.
We just learned that, following his reassignment to the Laval Rocket, numerous NHL teams immediately called Kent Hughes to try to acquire Xhekaj from the Habs.
Behind the scenes, it's suggested that the Sheriff's value is at least a first-round pick, and that's what was offered.
"Friedman says teams have called about Xhekaj but the Canadiens haven't even entertained the idea of trading him.
Clearly he's valued across the league."
Kent Hughes has thus received offers for Xhekaj, but he quickly refused them all.
This confirms that Xhekaj is still 100% in the organization's plans and that Kent Hughes absolutely does not want to trade him. Good news!
This also confirms how unique Xhekaj's profile is and how much other clubs would like to have him with them.
And you, for a first-round pick, would you have accepted to trade Xhekaj?
Xhekaj, 22 years old, 6 feet 4 inches and 240 pounds, has accumulated 11 points in 17 games this season with the Rocket. (3 points in 17 NHL games)
He has 34 penalty minutes in 17 games with the Rocket, and 47 penalty minutes in 17 games with the Canadiens.
