In any case, there are several very interesting pieces of information currently circulating regarding the NHL trade market, including a major transaction that was finalized earlier this week.
The Philadelphia Flyers traded their 2022 5th overall pick Cutter Gauthier to the Anaheim Ducks in return for defenseman Jamie Drysdale, who is a 6th overall pick in 2020, and a second-round pick in 2024.
Gauthier had been drafted a few ranks behind a certain Juraj Slafkovsky, and just one rank behind Shane Wright.
Cutter Gauthier was proposed in a trade to Kent Hughes
After this big transaction, we learned that Daniel Brière actually proposed Cutter Gauthier in a trade with the CH.
In return, he asked for the 5th overall pick used to select David Reinbacher. Hughes refused.
In connection with this whole story, Georges Laraque caused a lot of reactions by making the following statement.
Georges briefly talked about Reinbacher, but also about Jordan Harris:
"I would have given Harris, who has been playing really well since his return to play, and a first-round pick. (for Cutter Gauthier)" - Georges Laraque
Do you like his idea?
See their complete interaction:
Personally, we believe that Kent Hughes did well not to acquire Gauthier.
However, in his place, we would be very aggressive in acquiring Trevor Zegras! He already has 146 points in 199 NHL career games, including 53 goals, and he is extremely talented in addition to being the best friend of Cole Caufield.
