Earlier today, the excellent journalist Eric Engels, who covers the Montreal Canadiens for the Sportsnet network, published an interesting article in which he discusses several topics, including a possible trade involving Quebec defenseman David Savard.
See what he had to say on the subject.
"The Canadiens will then have to seriously consider trading David Savard relatively quickly. (after placing Lindstrom on waivers)
The 33-year-old Stanley Cup champion is a stabilizing force for the CH, a warrior who blocks shots and is incredible on the penalty kill, an underrated offensive contributor and a leader so strong he is practically considered an extension of the coaching staff.
His value to the team is undeniable. But Savard's value to the Canadiens on the trade market is probably too high to keep him." - Engels
And he continues by explaining that many teams would be willing to pay a high price to acquire Savard.

This is therefore something to consider, especially since the CH needs to part with defenders if it wants to add names like Arber Xhekaj and Lane Hutson to its roster by the end of the season.
So don't be surprised if David Savard is eventually traded, much like Ben Chiarot was a few years ago.
This coincides with what the renowned David Pagnotta mentioned very recently:
"I think this is where a guy like David Savard can come into play with so many teams looking to acquire more defensive guys who have a veteran presence on and off the ice.
I think we're going to start hearing more about David Savard as the season progresses. I wouldn't be surprised if the Montreal Canadiens get a return similar to what they received for Ben Chiarot a few seasons ago if they decide to trade." - David Pagnotta
The CH had obtained a first-round pick, a fourth-round pick, and the prospect Ty Smilanic, who had been drafted in the third round, for Ben Chariot.
That's promising!
