Development: A 70 million dollar contract for Dubois with the Canadiens?
In the context of his very interesting article published in the past few hours, journalist Arpon Basu, who covers the Montreal Canadiens for The Athletic, explored what Pierre-Luc Dubois' contract with the Montreal Canadiens would look like.
If the trade materializes, of course.
As can be read in his report, Dubois is seeking a contract worth 9 million dollars per season, but that doesn't mean he will get it.
Looking at the numbers and points accumulated, Dubois is closer to Hintz (8.45 million per year) or even Jesper Bratt (7.875 million per year).
Considering all parameters, considering what he has heard, and considering that Dubois is a center player (unlike Bratt), Arpon Basu puts forward this:
If the Canadiens want to go to 8.5 million dollars per season, or the same contract signed by Roope Hintz, that could really work.
So, even if the figure of 9 million dollars per season has been widely circulated, in reality, Pierre-Luc Dubois' next contract is more likely to be similar to the one signed by Hintz in November 2022.
We're talking about a contract of 67.6 million dollars, spread over 8 years, for a total of 8.45 million dollars per season.
