Darren Dreger confirms a big rumor involving Trevor Zegras and the Canadiens finally have the chance to inquire about him
It's been a few months now that we've been dreaming of forward Trevor Zegras, pairing him with his good friend Cole Caufield, but it's becoming more and more serious and concrete.
Some rumors circulated to the effect that he could possibly be available on the trade market, but now, it's reached another level.
It has just been confirmed by the renowned Darren Dreger, of TSN, an informant who speaks directly to GMs and agents involved.
Is Trevor Zegras Really Being Traded by the Ducks?
See what he mentioned.
« Dreger (TSN690): «If you're the Habs, why wouldn't you ask, why wouldn't you check out whether there could be a fit, but there's probably 25 other teams that'll make that same call. Now this is just me having fun but Zegras possibility is real across the board in terms of trade.»
- Darren Dreger
Interesting! So there is a real possibility that Zegras could be traded, but Dreger believes that it would more likely happen next summer, if at all.
The renowned informant continues by mentioning this.
«I know that the Anaheim Ducks have at least tested the market (to trade Zegras). He is certainly not untouchable.
If someone takes the lead, between now and the trade deadline, I don't see why Pat Verbeek wouldn't make this trade. [...]
As I said, if you're the Montreal Canadiens, why wouldn't you look to see if a deal is possible?»

So it's a very real possibility, rest assured that Kent Hughes will at least make a courtesy call to Pat Verbeek, and let's hope it can progress from there.
Ideally, Hughes would be able to use his surplus of solid young defenders to acquire Zegras, but stay tuned.
