Big surprise on NHL waivers: Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens have the opportunity to get a new Paul Byron
Wow.
We just had a major surprise in the National Hockey League waiver in the last few seconds.
The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed first-round pick Liam Foudy's name on waivers.
Most of the comments expect him to be claimed, just like Lassi Thomson was.
Foudy, 23 years old, is a very fast forward standing at 6 feet 2 inches and weighing 188 pounds. He was drafted in the 1st round (18th overall pick) by Columbus in 2018.
He's still young and he's an elite skater.
He has gathered around twenty career points in the NHL at the age of 23, and 35 points in 41 games in the AHL.
He surprised many by playing NHL games at just 18 years old, after dominating with the London Knights in the OHL.
