While the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, was at a press conference in the morning, he was naturally asked about the Pierre-Luc Dubois situation.
Here is his statement on the subject:
"Kent Hughes on Pierre-Luc Dubois's wish to leave Winnipeg:
'We are always open to adding elements that would improve our team, but not in the short term.' - Via Anthony Martineau, from TVA Sports"
He also made it clear that he did not want to talk about players from other teams.
It was a rather particular contrast, because Hughes was freely moving forward on certain targeted prospects (like Will Smith) and he was open to giving a lot of information, but as soon as the Dubois subject was brought up by the journalists, the Habs' GM quickly "closed up".
His statement was clear and direct, so much so that the media did not spend too much time on the subject. Interesting.
