Acquisition from the NHL waivers today: Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens officially have the chance to add Raphael Lavoie
It slightly got lost amidst the numerous news stories yesterday, but many more players have been placed on the NHL waivers and are currently available.
We wanted to focus on one of them.
The Canadiens, unlike previous years, have been quiet this month regarding waiver claims.
Was Kent Hughes waiting for the right opportunity? Has that opportunity just presented itself?
The Edmonton Oilers surprisingly put Quebec forward Raphaël Lavoie on waivers.
"Meanwhile, Raphaël Lavoie is intriguing. I don't know if MTL will claim him, but he's 23, a 6-foot-4 winger who gathered 25g and 45pts in the AHL last season, and it's not like Ylonen and Heineman made the cut at camp. His agent is Phil Lecavalier."
Eric Engels
Lavoie was the 38th overall pick in the 2019 draft. Some fans and experts wanted the Canadiens to pick him in the first round at the time.
It's therefore a situation to watch closely today for the Canadiens.
