At the 2024 Draft, many were surprised to see Ivan Demidov slip to 5th overall for the Montreal Canadiens.
Canadiens fans definitely won't be disappointed by this fall, as many expected the young Russian to be picked right after
Macklin Celebrini.
Ivan Demidov Rises to 3rd Overall, Behind a Surprising Name
In this new ranking, the journalist does move Ivan Demidov up, but to 3rd overall and not 2nd as many expect.
The player who occupies 2nd place is quite a surprise.
Originally selected 12th overall by the Minnesota Wild, Zeev Buium has thus climbed 10 spots in the journalist's ranking.
This, even though he only played 4 games during the last playoffs..
It's generating a lot of buzz, and rightly so - especially in Montreal.
Pronman would therefore accept trading Ivan Demidov for Zeev Buium (of the Wild), which is quite surprising to say the least.
The beauty with this kind of draft redo is that things can still change. Demidov has everything it takes to become a star player in the NHL and can prove it to everyone as early as this season.
We'll just have to see if Buium can prove Pronman right..
Until then, fans got to see Demidov put on an absolute show in the prospect showdown between the Canadiens and Jets. He was electric, bringing the crowd to its feet with one spectacular play after another.
