Paul Maurice fires shots at Bettman and the NHL for controversial offside call
Last night, after the loss to Connor McDavid's Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers forward Carter Verhaeghe sent a message to Gary Bettman.
When asked about the controversial disallowed goal for the Panthers, a sequence that sparked significant reactions, Verhaeghe simply mentioned this.
«Carter Verhaeghe on the offside review that took a Panthers goal off the board: "I'm sure it's the right call if they're watching a million replays.»

Based on what Verhaeghe mentioned afterward, it's clear he is really unhappy with how things turned out, especially since it would have been an extremely important goal for the Panthers.
He seems to believe that the NHL was «looking for a problem» and found a reason to disallow the Panthers' goal. He certainly gave arguments to those who disagree with the intense scrutiny of video replays.
Florida Panthers' Head Coach, Paul Maurice, Also Sends a Message to the League
His head coach, Paul Maurice, added the following.
« Paul Maurice says he wouldn't have challenged that offside before Barkov's goal based on the video that was made available to him on the Panthers bench, had the situation been reversed: "We'll get still frames. We'll bring in the CIA. We'll figure it out.'»

The message to the league is clear, at any rate.
There's a palpable sense of panic in the Florida Panthers' camp, and that bodes well for Connor McDavid's crew as the Edmonton Oilers aim to lift the Stanley Cup in 7 games.
A date with history promises excitement!
Recall, of course, that last night the Oilers won 5-1 against the Panthers, live from Edmonton, to surprise everyone and tie the Stanley Cup final series 3-3.
