A world champion was urgently evacuated on a stretcher, live from the Paris 2024 Olympics.
None other than the world record holder, Lamecha Girma from Ethiopia, fell victim to a very nasty fall during one of the final obstacles in the 3,000 meters obstacle course.
He notably hit his head (and face) dangerously against the ground.
Champion Lamecha Girma sees his Olympic journey abruptly end as he suffers a terrible injury
Let's just hope he can return to 100% as quickly as possible.
"Lamecha Girma left on a stretcher and seemed inactive with his limbs at the time of transport. We sincerely hope he will be fine following this terrible event and that he will not have any lasting injuries."
- Monde de Stars
We sincerely send him positive vibes and hope with all our hearts that his neck and spinal cord were not too severely affected, despite the severity of the impact.
This is the kind of scene we never want to see at the Olympic Games, but thankfully, Girma regained consciousness after the latest update.
