We just had a major announcement involving the National Hockey League. Many are even calling it a historic announcement.

As you may know, the current contract for NHL broadcast rights in Canada expires in 2026, but the matter has now been settled for Sportsnet.
According to Sportico, Rogers and the NHL have just signed a massive 12-year deal for the television broadcast rights of the games in Canada.
Wow.
In short, the National Hockey League will stay on Sportsnet.. and if Rogers continues its partnership with TVA Sports, then the NHL would remain on TVA Sports as it currently is.

See the announcement in question.
"Major: the NHL and Rogers have reached a new 12-year Canadian TV deal that will bring the league approximately 7.7 billion US dollars (11 billion Canadian dollars)."

- Sportico
Maxime Truman summarizes this major deal very well, right here, and especially what it means for fans of the Montreal Canadiens who watch hockey on TVA Sports and RDS.
The NHL settled its TV contract in the United States not long ago, and now it's been settled for us here in Canada as well.
We didn't see this coming, especially since several rumors suggested it was over for Rogers with the NHL and that they regretted their previous TV deal.
More details to come.
