Here is the official statement.
"The NHL Alumni Association is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Scott Metcalfe at the age of 58.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Scott's family, friends, and former teammates during this incredibly difficult time."

Scott Metcalfe was a 6-foot, 200-pound forward who was selected in the first round by the Edmonton Oilers in 1985 (20th overall) and recorded 3 points in 19 games.
However, he had a stellar career in the American Hockey League, averaging nearly a point per game, including a 70-point season in 80 games during the 1996-97 campaign.
He also posted seasons with 241, 177, 216, 228, 205, and 192 penalty minutes - all with Rochester.
Yes, he was a true tough guy.
"On the international stage, Scott proudly represented Canada as an assistant captain at the 1987 IIHF World Junior Championship."

He undoubtedly left his mark on the hockey world, especially with the Rochester Americans franchise.
