Former Canadiens Fan Favourite Officially Announces His Retirement From the NHL

Big news this morning for those who've been Montreal Canadiens fans for 15 years or more. Former Canadiens goaltender Jaroslav Halak has officially announced his retirement from the National Hockey League.
He's obviously a very well-known name among Habs fans from the last 15+ years, and also widely recognized in Quebec in general-especially because of the famous "Halak Spring."
14 years ago, on April 26, 2010, Jaroslav Halak stopped 53 of 54 shots against Washington, as the Canadiens won Game 6 by a score of 4-1.
That forced a Game 7 against the Capitals, who had won the Presidents' Trophy.
The Canadiens went on to win that game and eliminated Washington.

He was absolutely exceptional during those 2010 playoffs.
The time has come: Jaroslav Halak is retiring
That's what journalist Tomas Prokop has announced.
"Jaroslav Halak has officially retired at 40 years old.
He played in the NHL from 2006 to 2023, appeared in 581 games, wore the jersey of eight different teams, and won the William M. Jennings Trophy twice.
He confirmed it to me during an interview for Dennik Sport."
After 17 NHL seasons, Halak has officially decided it's over. At age 40, he played for eight different teams and had a very solid career overall.
Across his career-581 games-he compiled 295 wins, 189 losses, and 69 overtime losses, with a 2.50 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage.
Those are strong numbers!
For comparison's sake,
Carey Price has a record of 361-261-79 in 712 games played, with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .917 career save percentage.
So: 2.50 GAA for Halak vs. 2.51 for Price (career).
.915 SV% for Halak vs. .917 for Price (career).
But that's not all for Halak.
He's confirmed he still wants to stay involved in the world of hockey, and a new announcement on that front is expected soon.
Stay tuned for more details.
