As we reported yesterday afternoon, the Montreal Canadiens placed defenseman Gustav Lindstrom on NHL waivers.
He was thus available for free, and other teams in the league had until today at 2 pm to claim him.
The verdict has fallen, and Lindstrom knows his next destination!
Lindstrom, 25 years old, has accumulated 29 points in 142 career NHL games, including 4 points in 14 games this season with the Canadiens.
He was a 38th overall pick by the Red Wings in 2017 (2nd round) and was acquired in the Jeff Petry trade with Detroit. He earns $950,000 and will be a restricted free agent (RFA) next summer.
This waiver announcement signals the imminent return of Rafael Harvey-Pinard to play, which is obviously great news, but now, we have one fewer defenseman in the CH organization.
As for the Ducks, they are filling the gap left by Jamie Drysdale, who was traded a few hours ago to the Philadelphia Flyers.
