Alex Ovechkin destroys Leafs player with massive body check
The Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs took the ice in a highly anticipated regular season game. Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin set the tone for this exciting game with a huge hit.
Alex Ovechkin was skating in the neutral zone heading back toward his defensive end. As he was skating he noticed Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe with his head down. As a result, Alex Ovechkin took a couple of big strides and laid the boom on an unsuspecting Jake McCabe.
Ovechkin will likely go down in history as the most prolific goal scorer of all time, but he is unquestionably the toughest prolific goal scorer of all time
Ovechkin SITS McCabe down
Alex Ovechkin has always been known as one of the best goal scorers and simultaneously an impactful power forward. Despite his big hit the Washington Capitals have failed to capture momentum and currently trail 3-1 to the Maple Leafs.
With a loss tonight, the Capitals would potentially fall out of a playoff spot with a Detroit Red Wings win. The season is winding down and Alex Ovechkin and his teammates will need to find some magic to put home some goals and get back in this game. If they don't their playoff hopes could take a major plunge.
