Michael Pezzetta brings an energetic presence with the Habs. This season, things were a bit more challenging in the initial months, but in recent weeks, he's returned to being the spirited "Pezz" everyone knows.
His celebration after scoring a shootout goal against the Sabres perfectly illustrates this.
The Habs even had some fun with the moment on Twitter.
Reflecting on last year, there was a particular incident that convinced fans Pezzetta was prepared to do anything on the ice. That moment was when he dropped the gloves against Ryan Reaves, widely considered the NHL's top enforcer.
Here's the fight.
On the Raw Knuckles Podcast, Pezzetta explains why he decided to engage in the fight. It's worth noting that he initiated the challenge, not the other way around.
"This weekend was crazy. We play Detroit and I get my first point. The next game against Boston I get my first goal. And then we meet at Madison Square Garden and I was like "f*** it", I have to fight the best in the NHL"
Pezzetta said the experience felt different when he imagined it beforehand, but he doesn't seem to regret his decision. He even confessed that he's never received so many messages after getting roughed up.
