Already one of the hottest names in hockey and in the NHL, young Connor Bedard continues to impress.
The 17-year-old Canadian forward, who has 125 points (61 goals) in 50 games this season, is sure to be the first player selected in the upcoming NHL draft and many franchises are dreaming of getting their hands on this generational talent.
He could change everything for the team that gets the chance to draft him and he is already being scrutinized very closely.
Connor Bedard's mother was just talking about it in an interview, but the media attention directed towards the youngster is completely unbelievable.
Requests for interviews, collaboration and other requests are piling up by the hundred a day. In short, through this tsunami of attention and sometimes unhealthy insistence, his mother must play a big role in protecting her son (with good reason).
Perhaps for this very reason (mentioned above), some rumors started to circulate about his attitude. We will put an end to them immediately.
The truth about Connor Bedard's mother
After recently having the chance to meet Bedard as well as his mother, young TVA Sports reporter Anthony Martineau told what she's really like, behind the scenes and away from the cameras.
"Connor Bedard's mom:
-Introduces herself, offers coffees and says 'tell me about you guys. I love learning about people."
-Talks for 1 hour and 45 minutes when the interview only takes 20 minutes.
-Asks, 3 days after our meeting, if our return went well.
Honestly, this interview with Melanie Bedard was one of the most pleasant I have ever done.
This woman can talk about anything. She is also very humble.
Bottom line: the people around Connor Bedard really aren't likely to be a problem. Quite the contrary."
And she owed that reporter (Anthony Martineau) absolutely nothing. That says a lot about her, a real one, with a lot of class.
Hats off to her!
