Pierre LeBrun on two major trades involving the CH between now and the 2023 draft: two names targeted

If the Canadiens were relatively quiet at the trade deadline, we could witness a completely different scenario by the next NHL draft, which will be held in Nashville in June.

As we know, the injuries to Joel Edmundson and Sean Monahan greatly hindered Kent Hughes' work, as he was not able to obtain the expected value for these two players.

It is still unclear what will happen with Monahan, but as reported by Marco Normandin of Habsolumentfan.com, we could very well see the resolution of the veteran defender's situation.

According to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, the Canadiens could very well be involved in two major transactions during the offseason.


Obviously, discussions surrounding Joel Edmundson will resume in the coming weeks. If he remains healthy until the end of the season, the chances of Kent Hughes obtaining at least a first-round pick in return would be very good.

But that's not all.

The informant also dropped a bombshell, as he believes that the Pierre-Luc Dubois situation could be resolved during the offseason.

As we know, Dubois dreams of wearing the Canadiens' uniform. We will remember that he had clearly mentioned it. We also remember that last summer, he had mentioned that he did not intend to commit long-term to the Winnipeg Jets.

The Quebecois forward is having the best season of his career and he could cost quite a bit if the Canadiens do intend to acquire him.

So if we conclude quickly, it is very possible that Kent Hughes will be able to conclude two major transactions before the start of next season (one for Dubois and one for a first-round pick) and since the Canadiens will undoubtedly already have a very high first-round pick this year, we could have a greatly improved team by the start of next training camp.
