In his column today on BPM Sports airwaves, Tony Marinaro particularly discussed the case of Pierre-Luc Dubois and the Montreal Canadiens.
This is a significant statement because it precisely illustrates what many CH fans think.
"No, I don't think Dubois intended to play for the Montreal Canadiens. I think Pierre-Luc Dubois, like many Quebecers, used the Canadiens for his own benefit.
It drove up the bids.
If Pierre-Luc Dubois really wanted to play for the Canadiens, he would have said he wasn't going to sign with any other team than the CH. He could do it, right there." -Tony Marinaro
Tony therefore doesn't blame the Canadiens for this failed acquisition at all. He is well-informed and he firmly believes that Dubois had no intention of coming to Montreal. That's quite something.
"What I don't like is trying to make Canadiens fans believe he wanted to play in Montreal. [...] That wasn't true!" -Tony Marinaro
