Toronto Maple Leafs Management Meets To Potentially Fire Head Coach Sheldon Keefe

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been struggling of late and it seems like head coach Sheldon Keefe could be on his way out sooner rather than later.

Toronto Maple Leafs Management Meets To Discuss Sheldon Keefe's Future

This year the Toronto Maple Leafs have been far from where they were expected to be. At roughly the halfway point of the season, they are getting fantastic individual performances from players like Auston Matthews and William Nylander but as a team, they sit 11 points back of the division lead.

At third in the Atlantic, it is clear that they need to get a kickstart if they want to compete for the Stanley Cup. The Leafs management is aware of this and has reportedly held a meeting regarding Sheldon Keefe and his future with this team.

BREAKING NEWS: Leafs ownership, president, and GM are having a meeting this morning/early afternoon. Looks like a coaching change is coming. Stay tuned.

It seems to also be what the fans want as in a recent poll, 85% of fans voted to pull the plug on Keefe's tenure in Toronto.

Potential Coaching Replacements

Of the coaches on the market, former Blues head coach Craig Berube would be the top candidate for the position. In 2018-19 he took over for the Blues and led them to a Stanley Cup which shows he knows how to turn a struggling team around.

There are a few other former head coaches on the market like Travis Green, Bruce Boudreau, and Gerard Gallant. The Leafs could also elect to promote a current assistant if they decide Keefe is not cut out for the gig.

Only time will tell who they choose to go with but as it stands, it seems as if the Toronto Maple Leafs are looking for a new head coach.
