Patrick Roy Finally Comments on Past Meeting with the Canadiens for a Potential Role
During the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Islanders, broadcast on TVA Sports, Renaud Lavoie had an interview with Patrick Roy.
We highly recommend watching the full report, which can be found right here on TVA Sports' website.
Among the key moments, there's the part where Renaud Lavoie and Patrick Roy discuss his well-known meeting with the Montreal Canadiens, a few years ago, for an important role within the organization.
Among the many candidates interviewed by the Habs, Patrick Roy was indeed one of them.
Everyone seems to remember this episode, except for the former #33, which gave us a good laugh.
When asked about it by Renaud Lavoie, Patrick Roy said he «doesn't remember» meeting with the Montreal Canadiens for a job and that it's probably part of his selective memory.
He's clearly «pretending» not to remember. A response that speaks volumes.
Here's the exchange in question:
«I don't remember,» said the colorful coach, with a dry sense of humor.
«It must be in my selective memory,» responded TVA Sports' hockey reporter, laughing.
«We all have one, a selective memory,» Roy replied, with a grin.
Patrick Roy «doesn't remember» meeting with the Montreal Canadiens
Why won't Roy just confirm that he did indeed meet with the Habs? Only he knows the answer.
It could be due to a confidentiality obligation, but at the same time, it's not like it's the biggest secret in Montreal Canadiens history either.
Anyway, we know how the story ends.
Kent Hughes and Martin St-Louis were hired in Montreal, they're doing an excellent job, and Patrick Roy finally got his chance with Lou Lamoriello's New York Islanders.
We wish him an amazing 2024-2025 season, his first full one on Long Island.
