We just received a last-minute announcement from the New Jersey Devils that was expected by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
The Canadiens have acquired a draft pick from the Devils as part of the
Jake Allen trade, but it remains unclear whether it will be a 2nd-round or a 3rd-round pick for the 2025 draft.
Recall that if Allen plays 40 games this season, Kent Hughes will secure a solid 2nd-round pick for the June draft.
We were therefore waiting for news from New Jersey on this, and in the last few minutes, the announcement came.
The Devils confirm a long-term absence for Jacob Markstrom
It is unfortunately confirmed for them. Markstrom is seriously injured and will miss several weeks of activity.
Jacob Markstrom underwent imaging on Thursday, which indicated an MCL sprain. He will be out approximately four to six weeks.
Markstrom will miss the remainder of the club's games leading into the Four Nations break.
He will begin a rehab program under the guidance of the Devils' athlete care staff.
- New Jersey Devils
Jake Allen is now the number 1 goalie for the Devils, which obviously drastically increases the chances (for the Canadiens) of receiving a 2nd-round pick in the 2025 draft.
Also, in the last few hours, a trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the New Jersey Devils involving
Cayden Primeau has been suggested:
