Dobes was drafted in the 5th round (136th overall) by Montreal in 2020. He has had to fight for every opportunity since his days at Ohio State.
This refusal to head to the bench shows he doesn’t want to break his rhythm.
He stays "in the game" even when play is stopped. It’s psychological warfare as much as it is physical.
The Montreal market can be ruthless for a young masked man, so locking himself into his bubble may be his best weapon to survive the pressure.
He isn’t looking for the comfort of the bench.
