We've seen it for a while now, the Montreal Canadiens still lack a true second-line center. As a result, Ivan Demidov is stuck with Alex Newhook on the second line, which is far from ideal.

Just imagine this current lineup with a strong one-two punch down the middle.
It's no surprise that many fans are dreaming of Sidney Crosby to solidify that position.

Sidney Crosby in Bleu-Blanc-Rouge? Not So Crazy After All

In recent days, I wrote an article suggesting that Ivan Demidov's arrival could convince several players around the league to consider joining the Montreal Canadiens organization.
In my view, Sidney Crosby was among those names, and there were plenty of arguments to support it.
It didn't take long for that idea to gain traction, as one of Sid's former teammates, Louis Domingue, stated that the Pittsburgh Penguins captain would love to play in the city.
The former goalie made that statement during his appearance on the Stanley25 podcast with Maxime Truman and Jean Trudel.
"Montreal can be attractive for free agents, even without Hutson or Demidov.

Absolutely, it's Montreal!

He would love to play in Montreal.

He's an elite competitor.

This is exactly the kind of stuff he thrives on, but he's extremely loyal.

He's committed to Pittsburgh, and I see him as a Penguin for life."

- Louis Domingue on Sidney Crosby

As you can see, there's a but in all of this.
According to Domingue, No. 87 is a loyal man, and his long-standing commitment to the Penguins likely means he'll finish his career in that jersey.

Georges Laraque Still Believes in the Chance of Seeing Crosby in Montreal

All season long, another former teammate of Crosby's, Georges Laraque, has claimed that the idea of the Canadiens landing the future Hall of Famer isn't that far-fetched.
The former NHL enforcer is convinced that No. 87 would enjoy coming to Montreal.
But, as Domingue also mentioned, it's Crosby's loyalty to the organization that drafted him that could get in the way.
"Crosby loves hockey markets, and for him, Montreal would be perfect," said Laraque, adding that Crosby's loyalty to the Penguins might be a major obstacle.
It will be interesting to see if the Canadiens' playoff run can change things regarding Crosby's intentions.
If he sees that this team has a real shot at winning the Stanley Cup in the near future, unlike the Penguins, who are far from that goal, he might just set loyalty aside to chase his dream.
