TVA Sports journalist Anthony Martineau has just reported a key update involving Canadiens goaltender Samuel Montembeault.

While Jakub Dobes will be in goal for the Montreal Canadiens today, against the Penguins live from Pittsburgh, Kent Hughes has finally made his decision regarding Samuel Montembeault.
According to reports from TVA Sports journalists Anthony Martineau and Renaud Lavoie, Samuel Montembeault's stint with the Rocket has come to an end.

Samuel Montembeault's stint with the Laval Rocket is over

See what they have just published regarding Montembeault.
"Samuel Montembeault came back to Laval with the Rocket last night. He will have a couple of practices in Brossard tomorrow and Tuesday. With Jakub Dobes probably getting the start tonight and Jacob Fowler probably Tuesday, all parties involved believe its better for Samuel Montembeault to have couple of good practices. He will be with the Canadiens for the next trip starting in Tampa on December 28."

- Renaud Lavoie, TVA Sports
And now see Martineau's post.
"Samuel Montembeault's stint in Laval is over.

He will practice tomorrow and Tuesday in Brossard under the supervision of Marco Marciano before traveling with the Canadiens on the post-Christmas road trip.

The goal was notably to avoid unnecessary travel for him.

The initial plan was discussed, then changed at some point between last night and this morning. The Canadiens still believe strongly in him."

- Anthony Martineau
Samuel Montembeault's stint with the Laval Rocket is therefore officially over. The Montreal Canadiens adjusted their plan quickly, and this change speaks volumes. In his brief time in Laval, Montembeault allowed five goals on 52 shots over two appearances.
Management clearly revised its strategy sometime between last night and this morning, opting for a different approach.
The 29-year-old goaltender will practice tomorrow and Tuesday in Brossard under the supervision of Marco Marciano.
He will then join the Canadiens for the post-Christmas road trip, without any unnecessary detours.
The objective is simple.
Avoid unnecessary travel and allow Montembeault to remain in a structured, familiar environment directly connected to the big club.
With a busy schedule after Christmas, having Montembeault ready to jump in quickly becomes a clear logistical advantage.
The Canadiens are giving themselves flexibility. Management still believes strongly in Samuel Montembeault, and this decision clearly proves it.
