The excellent Maxime Truman made an interesting point immediately after the announcement of the Phillip Danault trade.

He points out that, following the trade and the fact that the Canadiens added a player to their lineup (Danault was acquired for a simple draft pick and not in exchange for an active player), this now means that the team currently appears to have 14 forwards, 7 defensemen, and 3 goaltenders on the active roster.
That is indeed one player over the limit allowed by the NHL, and it also indicates that another player will have to leave.
If nothing has been announced at this point, I truly do not think this situation will be resolved with a trade; it is therefore likely to be handled with a reassignment to the Laval Rocket.
So do not be surprised if this is announced and confirmed in the next few minutes by the Canadiens.

Truman specifically puts forward the name of Jared Davidson.
"I have good reason to believe that the Habs sent Jared Davidson down to the Rocket a few minutes before acquiring Phillip Danault."

We will therefore keep an eye on this, on this Saturday morning.
For those who went to bed earlier and may have missed it, let us remind you that the Canadiens acquired Phillip Danault from the Kings late on Friday night.
Danault is therefore back with the Montreal Canadiens, and we are already looking forward to seeing him back in action.
