Paul Byron makes a massive statement on Logan Mailloux in recent interview
Former Montreal Canadiens forward Paul Byron made a significant statement about young Logan Mailloux, and he had a lot to say.
Mailloux, who had a stellar rookie season with the Laval Rocket and has already made his NHL debut, could be a major asset in the Canadiens' rebuilding process.
Paul Byron has high hopes for Logan Mailloux
Usually, team members are cautious about putting too much pressure on young players, but Paul Byron couldn't contain his excitement about Logan Mailloux.
He made some revealing statements, which we believe are quite true.
In response to questions from journalist Marc Antoine Godin, the former Montreal Canadiens player, now a player development consultant, said the following about Mailloux:
«He respects the veterans, but he wants to beat them,» explains Byron. «I think that's the mentality you need to have.
Yes, you're teammates, but in every practice, in every drill, in every repetition, you're competing against each other. And the better you get at that, the easier the game becomes. If you do enough good things, you will build confidence. And that confidence will grow with each repetition, because the better you get, the more dominant you feel.»
- Paul Byron
Byron added that Logan Mailloux is going to become a complete NHL player, particularly because he is extremely competitive and has immense potential.
Mailloux truly wants to improve.
Paul Byron even went as far as to say that Logan Mailloux could, on his own, speed up the Montreal Canadiens' rebuilding process. Wow.
«If this player becomes what we think he can become, he could be the kind of player capable of accelerating a rebuild.» - Paul Byron
What an effort by Mailloux, and kudos to him!
Logan Mailloux, 21 years old, standing 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 220 pounds, is a right-handed defenseman who tallied 47 points in 72 games during his first season in the AHL with the Laval Rocket. This production is comparable to P.K. Subban at the same age.
