We've seen it several times this season, Patrik Laine doesn't hold back. He's often spoken out against his opponents, and every time, it's ended up helping them.

Not only did they dominate the game and injure Laine, but they also went on a winning streak right after.
The Finn once again showed he's not afraid to speak his mind, but this time, it wasn't about opponents-it was about his future teammate, Ivan Demidov.
Here's what he had to say when asked about the 19-year-old who's set to join the team in the coming days:
"He's Russian and he's a lefty.
That's about it."
- Patrik Laine

A pretty simple answer that actually says a lot, don't you think?

Patrik Laine and European Hockey

Number 92 for the Canadiens didn't stop there, he also openly criticized the European style of play.
He said he hates watching hockey from the old continent compared to the North American game.
"I don't watch the KHL anymore, but apparently he has good skills.

European hockey is boring because of the size of the rinks. It's slower.

I prefer it here, there's less skating.
It's an adjustment every European has to make.

This is the best league in the world and he's arriving just as the playoffs are starting.
It's not the easiest transition."

- Patrik Laine

You can understand his point of view, but coming from a Finn, that statement might sound a bit odd..

A Strange Scene as Patrik Laine Talks About Ivan Demidov

There was even a palpable awkwardness during those outrageous comments.
Still, despite all that he said, Laine seems to genuinely love the game, and especially playing in Montreal.
He's refreshingly honest and doesn't speak in clichés.
And I'm sure he'll be one of the first to congratulate Demidov when he gets his first point.
In fact, there's a good chance Laine might be the one who helps set it up!
