Patrik Laine felt intimidated by two former teammates and revealed their names
The new Montreal Canadiens forward, Patrik Laine, is quite the acquisition for Kent Hughes.
This is Laine's second trade since 2016, having been moved from the Winnipeg Jets to the Columbus Blue Jackets in January 2021 (in the
Pierre-Luc Dubois trade).
At the time of that trade, there were numerous rumors about the very negative atmosphere in the Jets' locker room.
In fact, here's what TVA Sports reports.
"In 2021, when he moved from Winnipeg to Columbus, Laine hinted, according to the Finnish media Iltalehti, that he had felt intimidated by Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele."
Other sources suggested that "some Jets leaders" were simply trying to instill work habits in the young Laine.
Today, with the Montreal Canadiens, I am confident that he will be treated very well in the locker room, and I am sure he will be much more comfortable.
This will be new for him, especially after what we learned yesterday via Aaron Portzline that four Blue Jackets players requested Patrik Laine's immediate departure from Columbus.
If Laine can simply be comfortable, happy, and feel good in his work environment, I am certain he can achieve great things for the Montreal Canadiens.
I stand by it. Patrik Laine is quite the acquisition by Kent Hughes.
