Newhook didn't boast about it, but he made a great gesture for his teammates last night by simply being in uniform.
It shows how much it can hit hard.
The Canadiens would have practically had to play with only 10 forwards, which would have been very difficult.
I'm not saying it would have caused the Canadiens to lose the game, but let's just say it wouldn't have helped (especially since Newhook scored a point last night and finished the game with a +2 rating).
Alex Newhook played last night even though he was still sick and unwell because he wanted to help his team
In the end, a few hours before the game in Salt Lake City, the Canadiens indeed announced that Newhook would be back in the lineup, so we thought he was fully recovered, but no.
He simply played despite being sick, to help out his team.
It was actually Nick Suzuki who revealed this information in front of the camera, in a nice little video posted by the Canadiens.
«Special mention to Newy, who played despite everything (even though he's still sick), but the player of the game goes to
Kirby Dach. Two big goals, Dacher!»- Nick Suzuki
If he played last night, it wasn't because he was fully recovered, it's simply because he wanted to help his team, and that absolutely deserves a big shout-out!
Check out the video in question right here, a video in which we also see Martin St-Louis dancing a little.
