Last night, Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes made a move by announcing that Florian Xhekaj and Adam Engstrom were being sent back to Laval.
The roster moves were officially announced immediately after the Canadiens' win over the Winnipeg Jets.
That said, another interesting personnel move was announced within the Canadiens organization today. Why is it interesting? Because it gives us a hint as to whether the Canadiens are preparing to call up forward Samuel Blais.
A personnel move confirmed involving two players within the Montreal Canadiens organization
First, here is the confirmation from the Canadiens' AHL affiliate:
"Forward Joe Dunlap and defenseman Ryan O'Rourke have been reassigned to the Trois-Rivières Lions."
- Laval Rocket
- Laval Rocket
This means that following the arrival of Florian Xhekaj and Adam Engstrom, the Rocket only reassigned one forward and one defenseman to the Lions de Trois-Rivières.
Based on these personnel moves, it appears that Samuel Blais will have to wait before receiving his long-anticipated call-up from the Montreal Canadiens and Kent Hughes.
Ryan O'Rourke, 23, was the 39th overall pick by the Minnesota Wild in 2020 (second round) and has 0 points in 3 games with the Laval Rocket this season.
Samuel Blais, 29, was the 176th overall pick by the St. Louis Blues in 2014 (sixth round) and has 5 points in 3 games with the Laval Rocket this season.
More details to come.
