The Montreal Canadiens' game last night against the Pittsburgh Penguins left its mark. The 9-2 home loss to Sidney Crosby's squad seems to have completely erased the progress of the last few weeks and forced Martin St. Louis to make changes.
Notably, there was one particular change that really got people talking.
Among all the changes Martin St. Louis could have made to shake things up, he chose to remove
Lane Hutson from his role as the defenseman on the first power play unit.
Lane Hutson Removed from the First Power Play Unit
Why? That's an excellent question, and we hope this demotion will be short-lived because he was doing excellent work on the first unit.

As you can imagine, this is a change sparking a lot of discussion today.
This change came after a rare turnover by Lane Hutson, and it's widely seen by many as outright punishment from the coach.
Hutson, 20 years old, is a 5-foot-9, 162-pound defenseman who was drafted 62nd overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2022 (2nd round).
He has 19 points in 29 games this season (19 assists), and fans hope to see him back on the first power play unit soon.
What about you? Do you think Lane Hutson deserved to be removed from the first power play unit in favor of Mike Matheson?
