The player drafted by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, Ivan Demidov, had some bad news to announce.
Unfortunately, even though he would love to be there, he will not be able to attend the Canadiens' rookie development camp.
Ivan Demidov will be absent from the Canadiens' development camp
This is what he confirmed to journalists a few minutes after being selected by Montreal.
«Ivan Demidov says he doesn't have a Canadian visa and therefore won't be able to attend the Canadiens' development camp.» - Arpon Basu
It's a shame because we would have loved to see him, but honestly, it's not a big deal.
Simply seeing how happy young Demidov was to be drafted by the Montreal Canadiens meant everything.
This is just a postponement, and we will have plenty of other opportunities in the future to see him in the Canadiens' uniform.
What a selection, what an acquisition!
This could truly change everything for the Canadiens, being able to get such a talented player.
Demidov, 18 years old, is a 6-foot, 190-pound winger. He amassed 60 points in 30 games this season in St. Petersburg. He has one more season to play there, and then he will immediately join Martin St-Louis's lineup.
It looks promising!
As we reported earlier, Ivan Demidov also announced when he intends to come to North America and join the Montreal Canadiens.
His intentions are 100% clear. He wants to come to Montreal as soon as possible.
Details will follow.
